Description
Electro, also known as electro-funk, is a subgenre of electronic music that emerged in the early 1980s. It is characterized by the use of drum machines and synthesizers, with an emphasis on rhythm and groove. Electro draws heavily from funk, with the use of funky basslines and guitar riffs, and often incorporates elements of hip-hop and breakbeat. Some of the key pioneers of electro include Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambaataa, and Mantronix. Today, electro continues to be a popular genre, with many contemporary artists drawing inspiration from its early roots.
