Description

Metalcore is a subgenre of heavy metal that combines elements of hardcore punk and metal. It typically features heavy, chugging guitar riffs, aggressive screamed or growled vocals, and breakdowns, which are heavily rhythmic sections designed to get the crowd moving. Metalcore can also incorporate elements of other genres, such as melodic singing, electronic music, or even jazz, and has become increasingly popular in the 21st century, with bands such as Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, and Parkway Drive achieving mainstream success.
